Review of prize distribution function of Pinnacle ICE 2007 Digital Short Film Festival

The thump of ICE resounded once again on the evening of 27th May 2007 for the Awards distribution ceremony of Pinnacle ICE 2007 Digital Short Film Festival. An action packed event from the word go, the evening was honoured with the presence of maverick filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. ICE’s Honorary member Atul Kulkarni, along with Festival Director Samar Nakhate and Pinnacle Group head Gajendra Pawar were present to express themselves about the festival and encourage the filmmakers.

“This is a great time to be a filmmaker” said Anurag Kashyap. “Foreign countries have exhausted their resources in making films, but people like us are still going head on to achieve success. Nothing can be more benefitial for us at this moment”, he added. “A filmmaker should experiment and express in his own language. For others, there are always subtitles”, he quipped.
Apart from encouraging the filmmakers, Mr Kashyap also praised the effort that ICE managed to put up with the ongoing Festival series. He was more than glad to watch the award winning films with Atul and the others and applauded for the films too.

The event at S M Joshi auditorium took place with a packed audience waiting to hear from all the guests of honour including their favourite icon popular actor Atul Kulkarni.

“It’s about time that audiences trained themselves to appreciate and enjoy short films. It’s heartening to see so many young filmmakers and audience participating enthusiastically in the ICE festival”, he said. “Now is the time to spread this culture far and wide so that more and more people can have the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of short films”.
Mr Samar Nakhate was all praise for the filmmakers who had partcipated in ICE. “ICE is nurturing a community which exercises honest filmmaking. This inititative of a digital short film festival series would grow in time to be a formidable force. We’re also working very hard to have shows in other countries where these films would be showcased and appreciated by a larger and varied audience.”

Filmmakers were exhilirated to be a part of ICE.

“I think it’s a great platform for new filmmakers like us to express ourselves and get noticed. I really appreciate the effort that ICE is doing for us. ICE rocks!” said an enthusiastic filmmaker.
