Are multiple entries allowed? I have more than 1 film that I can send.
Sure! You can send as many entries as you want. In fact the more the merrier.
For the same, you will have to kindly fill up a separate Entry form for each of your entries. Also, the entry fee will be applicable to each of your films.
E.g. if you have 3 films that you want to send in the open division, you have to fill up and submit three forms, along with Rs.1500/- as your cumulative entry fee (3 X 500). 3 Forms consists of details of your 3 films, like Title of the films, Duration, Genre, etc) and submit the films on 3 SEPARATE DVDs to us. Simple! |
Do I have to register myself as a filmmaker and pay the entry fee at this point of time if nothing regarding my film has been decided?
NO.
You cannot do it this year and may be even not in future.
Fill up, Submit forms along with the FEE and the DVD before 31st Marhc 2009. So make sure your short film is ready for submission by that date. |
If I have a film ready but have not registered, can I send it at the 11th hour?
No, if the submission period is over. Kindly look up to the previous question. |
Is it OK if I register, send the form but pay the entry fee at the time of submission?
No, that can’t be done. Registration will be void if you do not send the entry fee. & Entry can not be accepted without the DVD |
Will ICE 2009 be only for fiction short films?
Is there a specific genre that I have to send my film into?
Can I send a documentary?
You can submit short films of any genre. Fiction, non fiction, animation, educational/instructional, documentary, docu-drama, experimental, etc. are some of the genres that come first to the mind. Even if you think that your film does not fit in any of the above categories, please go ahead and submit your film. |
My film duration is 5 seconds only. Can I send it to ICE 2009?
Absolutely. We accept all films from 1 sec to 20 minutes duration. |
My film’s duration is 00:20:10:00 (20 mins 10 secs). Am I eligible to send it for ICE 2009?
Sorry. 20 minutes means 20 minutes. Work out something (possibly a re-edit and fit it within 20 minutes) if you want to send it for ICE 2008. That includes opening titles and end credits if any. |
I have my short film on VHS. OR I had made it on VHS format and possess a DVD version of the same. Am I eligible?
Sorry. ICE 2009 will only host short films that have been recorded in digital medium. i.e. The film should be shot using digital cameras. The Festival will not accept films that have been produced in an analog format and converted into digital format (like the question above). If you think that you can still send it and we’ll not know, try us. By the way, when we find out, your entry will be disqualified. |
How will I know whether my film is going to be screened or not?
Good question. All filmmakers whose short films will be selected for the screening will be communicated via email. Also, the festival website will display the list of the selected films with their details. |

Why wasn’t my film selected? It was selected in all other festivals.
The short films received for ICE 2008 will be reviewed thoroughly by an appointed Selection Committee. The Selection Committee for ICE 2009, just like it was for ICE 2006, ICE 2007, ICE 2008 is an independent body comprising of film theorists and critics. Selection of films for screenings, eligibility for awards and appointing the winners is completely at their discretion. The organizers have nothing to do with their decisions. If your short film has not been selected, then no correspondence or communication will be entertained regarding their decisions. |
Why didn’t I win any award when I received award(s) for the same short film in other festival(s)?

I stay in Timbuktu. My film is available to view on Google videos or a similar website. You can download it and make a DVD on your own. Why do I have to send a separate copy to ICE 2009 on a DVD?
Correct. Because you have to.
Receiving your entry officially from you takes care of a lot of things. We get to know your details as a filmmaker, which are updated in our database. Also, we get to know whom to exactly communicate to during the working of the Festival. By sending your entry officially, you will send your entry fee, without which your registration is void. And lastly, web quality videos cannot be accepted for ICE 2009. For technical requirements, see the RULES section. |
Can I send a film in my mother tongue/native language?
Surely. Why not. Except that it should have English subtitles so that everyone can understand it. That’s also a rule for non-English short films. |
How can I attend my short film’s screening?
Details regarding the scheduling of screenings will be disclosed 2 weeks before the Festival. All filmmakers whose films have been selected for screenings will be communicated personally for their seating arrangements. Till then, please stand by! |
Can I send along publicity design of my short film like posters, flyers, etc?
Yes you can, but the decision of whether they will be displayed/distributed to the audience is entirely at the discretion of the venue authorities. |
Will I need a censor certificate for my short film?
Not at all. ICE will take care of that. |
Do I need to come personally to submit forms and films?
Not at all. You can also courier us. |
I have submitted form, DVD and paid the fees.Whats next?
As you have submitted form, we would ask you to be patient until the registration process is finished. And keep an eye on your email inbox for mail from us. |
I'm not from Pune. My film is selected for screening. I know nobody from Pune. is ICE going to arrange for accommodation?
Wish we could. but no. We cannot. There are several reasons for not arranging for the stay. E-mail us immediately if your film is selected and you're looking for accommodations in Pune during the festival. We might come handy as we're from Pune itself. |
